Our team & how we test

GameReviewBase is an independent review site for Australian players. We are not a casino operator and we do not take paid placements. Two people sign off on every review: a reviewer and a separate fact-checker.

Liam Hargrove

Lead Casino Reviewer · Melbourne, Victoria, Australia

Liam has reviewed offshore casinos for Australian players since 2015 and runs the GameReviewBase testing desk. A journalism graduate of RMIT University in Melbourne, he started out reporting on the industry for trade titles such as iGaming Business before moving to consumer reviews. These days he spends most of his time on the part players actually care about — making a deposit, clearing a welcome bonus and timing how long a real PayID withdrawal takes to land. His focus is payout behaviour, bonus value and how a site holds up on a phone, and he signs off on every casino review the site publishes.

Maya Ellison

Payments & Compliance Editor · Sydney, New South Wales, Australia

Maya is the payments and compliance editor at GameReviewBase and the second signature on every casino review. She spent five years in financial-services compliance in Sydney — where she studied at the University of Sydney — before moving into iGaming, which is where her eye for the gap between an advertised bonus and its real terms comes from. She owns the site's coverage of PayID and the New Payments Platform, and re-checks every licence reference and wagering condition before a review goes live. When something reads as a promise rather than a verifiable fact, it does not get published until it is fixed.

How we test

Every casino on this site is assessed the same way, over a test period of at least 30 days, with zero paid positions. The process has five steps:

  1. Registration and KYC. We create an account and complete identity verification, noting how much is asked for and how long it takes.
  2. Deposit. We fund the account through the methods the casino promotes to Australians — usually PayID, cards or crypto — and record limits and fees.
  3. Bonus play. We claim the welcome offer and work through the wagering, checking game weighting, bet caps and the maximum cashout against what was advertised.
  4. Withdrawal. We request a payout and time how long it takes to land, including any extra verification.
  5. Fact-check. A second person re-checks the licence reference and bonus terms before the review is published.

Those findings feed our Payout Score, a weighted score across seven criteria: licensing and safety (20%), games and software (18%), bonus value (16%), payments and withdrawals (16%), mobile experience (10%), support (10%) and responsible-gambling tools (10%). Licensing and payouts carry the most weight because they are what protect your money.

Our independence

We may earn a commission when a reader joins a casino through one of our links, at no extra cost to you. That arrangement never changes the ranking. A casino cannot buy a higher position, and a bigger bonus does not move a site up on its own. If we cannot complete a withdrawal or the terms are misleading, the casino does not get listed.

A note for Australian players

GameReviewBase covers offshore casinos that accept Australian players. These sites are licensed outside Australia (typically in Curaçao or Anjouan) and are not licensed or regulated within Australia — we never claim otherwise. Checking the rules that apply to you is your responsibility, and nothing on this site is financial or legal advice.
